Limited Capacity seats available

Discovery has become recognized as an effective alternative to traditional, comparative assessments, especially in the area of vocational evaluation. Discovery is a qualitative strategy that proceeds from the belief that people's lives contain sufficient richness of experience from which information necessary for planning can be derived. But what happens when people have had a life relatively devoid of meaningful experiences? This session will address strategies to expand an individual's life experiences by using structured activities such as paid internships, post-secondary college attendance and other age-appropriate approaches as a lens for expanded Discovery. OBJECTIVES: Understand the basics of Discovery as an alternative to comparative assessment. Understand when the need for expanded Discovery might be called for. Understand the relationship between Discovery and services such as paid internships and post-secondary college experiences. Relate the emerging data associated with Expanded Discovery.
