This year’s theme, “Celebrating 40 Years of Progressive Leadership,” acknowledges TASH’s 40 years of generating change within the disability community and anticipates a brighter, more inclusive future for people with disabilities in all aspects of life. Each year, the TASH Conference impacts the disability field by connecting attendees to innovative information and resources, facilitating connections between stakeholders within the disability movement, and helping attendees reignite their passion for an inclusive world.

Including Me in Virginia, a Statewide Inclusion Task Force, emerged from a number of separate but important efforts occurring across the state. Individuals passionate about inclusion from The Down Syndrome Association of Greater Richmond, The Arlington Inclusion Task Force, The ARC of Virginia, Virginia TASH and the Partnership for People with Disabilities connected at conferences and meetings, and began to collaborate and network in recognition of a common purpose and goal: To educate parents, educators and communities about the rights, benefits, and strategies of inclusion of students with disabilities with their general education peers in their neighborhood schools in Virginia. OBJECTIVES: 1. Understand how momentum and ?being in the right place at the right time? can create opportunities for leadership 2. Identify strategies for building a statewide network dedicated to inclusive education 3. Learn about and share strategies for bringing inclusion to the forefront as an educational issue, to influence planning and decision-making by school districts and to educate all involved? school board members, central office administrators, principals, special and general education teachers and related service personnel as well as families 4. Understand how collaborative effort can build capacity for leadership
