This session will provide participants with information on how to use team building skills and evidence based strategies to facilitate inclusion for students with severe disabilities. Participants will learn the 6 essential features of building a team that includes families of students with severe disabilities, teachers, students with disabilities, administrators, and other key people. Instruction on a variety of research based inclusion strategies will be provided that teams can use to effectively and efficiently include students with severe disabilities in general education classes. OBJECTIVES: Participants will be provided information on... 1) How to build and actively participate in a team to include students with severe disabilities in general education classes. 2) The six essential features of building a team, goal setting, roles and responsibilities, process, communication and interpersonal skills, collaborative problem solving, and evaluation. 3) Six evidence based inclusion strategies 4) To implement these tools as teacher leaders in the public school system.
